Hot Stone Restorative Yoga
Hotstone restorative yoga is a nurturing, deeply soothing and therapeutic form of yoga that increases relaxation of the mind body and soul. It helps balance the body's systems and realign the energy flow to support the natural healing process of the body.
During this 2 hour class you will be led through a series of gentle, therapeutic poses supported with blankets, pillows, bolsters and eye masks. Heated basalt stones are gently placed in various areas over the body depending on each pose. The heated stones help to relax the muscles in order to release tension and pain stored within the body. Easing the mind of stress and anxiety.
Basalt river rocks are used because they are smooth from the river’s current and they hold heat well. They are made of volcanic rock, enabling them to heat quickly and retain their heat for an extended period. The rocks are heated in a professional heater to 110°F to 145°F.They’re used in hot stone restorative yoga as well as massage because they hold heat for a prolonged period on specific areas of your body.
In addition to basalt stones Amanda intuitively taps into the body to feel into what is required to initiate healing on an energetic level and uses tuning forks and sound vibration to raise the frequency of the vessel. Tuning forks provide healing vibrational frequencies. They can open the energetic pathways in the body that encourage and foster the flow of qi.
The body is made up of 75% water. Sound travels five times faster in water compared to traveling through air. That means that the body is a great sound conductor. As the sound from a tuning fork travels through your body, it removes and reduces blockages in the body that disrupt the flow of your internal energy, qi. Any illness or medical condition that arises in your body might be the result of being “out of tune,” decreasing the flow of qi. Sound healing allows your body to get back to its natural state, reestablishing your body’s natural harmony.
